Located down an easy to miss Ho Chi Minh alley off Pasteur street, The Alley Bar is a little vintage styled speakeasy with decently priced drinks, quality food, and chill acoustic guitar or jazz music on many days. The music is never too loud, the lighting is dim never too dark, and the vibe never too raucous. It’s easy-going and classy at the same time; social yet intimate. And with a good mix of Vietnamese and foreigners there’s always an international feeling in the air.
Every Thursday night is live acoustic music. Every Friday Jazz, and sometimes Saturday and Tuesday they also have music. The music is always at a reasonable volume, not getting in the way of conversation while still adding to the overall smooth vibe.
Very well executed and tasty cocktails: The Singapore Sling is sleek and their specialty cocktails go down smooth, like the Mekong Delta and the Gastro Infusion. The gin fizz is great, and the mojito is definitely worth a try. Overall a great selection of spirits, including whiskey and bourbon from all over the world. And one of the larger wine selections you’ll find in Saigon. Check out their drink menu and their wine list to see the entire Alley selection.
The food is an assortment of tapas and quality beef and chicken like their Grilled Australian Beef Sirloin and the Roasted Wild Chicken. Check out the menu to see more of their food selections .
The Alley has created a warm intimate space for friends, partners, or just to relax to wind down the day. The bartenders are enthusiastic and really into their work and making great drinks. Tan the owner and his staff clearly want to provide great customer service, and they do. Very pleasant to chat with or to help you find a nice food/wine pairing. And the crowd is generally young, mid-level professionals, so it stays unpretentious and social.
Find the alley, part the curtains and experience District 1’s coolest speakeasy. For locals it’s a great place to hit a few times a month and for tourists you’ll feel like you discovered a secret place you’ll recommend to anyone you know who is passing through Saigon.

Perfect stop for after dinner drinks after eating nearby at:
Namo Tuscan Grill HCMC across the street or the little French bistro The Mach House just around the corner. And when Pasteur Street Brewery across the street gets too noisy and crowded this is the place to take things down a notch. And if you’re feeling energized after your stop at The Alley and want to put that to good use, just around the corner on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street is The Lighthouse where you can dance or just check out the views on their rooftop and 2 balconies.
